Welcome to my Photog blog! Coming of the heels of my birthday I figured this would be the best time to launch my blog. With some help and some shade from my super friends Elton Anderson, Apuje Kalu and Tia Smith at the creative hostel (Elton’s place with four walls and a space in the middle) its finally here!! Like many of my peers refusing to live by the “what ifs” of life I decided to veer off of the traditional path of a 9-5 and pursue my passion, photography. Now I’m a professional freelance photographer with working hours of 24/7.
I had a conversation with a good friend of mines Azee Johnson about my experiences with photography and she sent me a quote that sums up how I approach photography: “Never have I found the limits of the photographic potential. Every horizon, upon being reached, reveals another beckoning in the distance. Always, I am on the threshold.” - William Eugene Smith. So I’m inviting you to take this journey with me.
P.S. Thank you for all of the birthday wishes!!!!!
John “Castro” Ramirez was one of my first lifestyle shoots. I usually like to have conversations with my clients to get a feel of the direction of the shoot. So during my chat with Castro I found out that he was quite the talent. He played middle linebacker at the University of Nebraska. Now you would think that the bulk of the conversation would be geared towards football but as in the words of Lee Corso “No so fast, my friend”. Castro’s pride and joy wasn’t in knocking some quarterback out but in his art and his ability to drape the mess out of a dress. I must admit at first I was a non-believer until he broke out his weapons of mass creations a thimble, a sewing machine and every type of fabric know to man. He’s also was rich in culture coming from a Colombian background and he also has his own clothing company “Flagrant International”. So needless to say I had plenty of things to build his story around……. Enjoy!
